The staff’s attitude wasn’t nearly as bad as some people online made it sound. The car we got wasn’t exactly the one we booked, but it was pretty much the same type. We added the full insurance from the rental company, so they barely checked the car when we returned it, and the whole drop-off process was super smooth.

Service was pretty good. I booked pickup for 7pm, but my flight was delayed and I didn’t get there until after 11pm. Most of the other rental companies nearby were already closed, but this one stays open until midnight, so I didn’t miss my booking. I added AUTOVÍA’s own insurance on the spot, the second-tier full coverage (doesn’t include theft), which was €39 per day. I reserved a VW Golf but ended up with a T-Cross, a compact SUV, which was fine for driving around Sicily. The trunk only fits one 28-inch suitcase though, so any extra luggage has to go on the back seats.

No upselling or pushy add-ons at all.

I've rented with them twice in Italy and always go for the full coverage. Overall they’re decent, but getting the deposit back is painfully slow.

Everything went really smoothly with this rental. The branch is outside the airport, so once you land you just wait at the designated spot and they pick you up. I booked the cheapest Polo but they gave us a BYD ATTO 2 DM-i instead, a compact SUV that was super easy to drive and nicely equipped. We drove through the Dolomites and the mountain areas in Austria with no issues at all. On site we only had to pay a €96 cross-border fee, no other hidden charges. We’ve already returned the car; there’s a €950 deposit pending and we’re just not sure how long it will take to get it back.

We paid for full coverage at the rental shop, which actually cost more than the car rental itself. They gave us a new Kia, and thanks to the full coverage, returning the car was really quick—they only checked if the tank was full.

The car was pretty new and in great condition.

It’s been less than a week since we returned the car and so far there haven’t been any hidden charges, which is a relief. Just a heads-up: when you land in Milan, leave plenty of extra time. Our booking was for 3:00 p.m., but we spent almost 3 hours queuing at immigration, so we arrived to pick up the car 2 hours late. They then told us we had to pay an extra €162 to switch to another vehicle.

The rental company was great, it’s a local business and the whole process went really smoothly.
