My English is really basic—just everyday phrases—so it’s hard for me to discuss the details of a rental with staff. Using this rental platform really helped bridge that gap. But in reality, some issues are still hard to handle on the spot. For example, when returning the car, there were only one or two staff members and a ton of vehicles. They were extremely busy, so there was no chance to talk through any questions. If you go back to the counter, you have to queue all over again, and when you’re rushing to catch a flight, you simply don’t have the time to stand in line and ask for help.

I mentioned in advance that I’d need a bigger trunk for luggage, so they proactively upgraded me to a 2008 and even had the keys ready. When I was doing the paperwork they kindly reminded me about the insurance, and everything was sorted quickly.

We booked an 11:00 pickup and got to the rental place at 10:30, but they wouldn’t start the paperwork until exactly 11:00. Once they did, they were really strict with the checks – they even asked to see our entry stamp, but the US doesn’t stamp passports anymore, so they ended up checking our inbound flight ticket instead. The car they assigned us was the red one on the right, and during the inspection we noticed the rear right tire was damaged. We asked them to change the car, they checked with the manager and agreed, but after about 10 minutes they gave us the smaller car on the left, which was definitely not as spacious as the first one. Overall the process was reasonably efficient, no upselling at any point, and the return was literally done in seconds.

Had an amazing experience! Road-tripping around Northern Europe was definitely the best way to go—you can visit so many beautiful little towns and even drive the Elf Road back and forth.
