Europcar - Nice Cote D'azur Airport Information, Car Rental Instructions & Policies

Like: Efficient and polite staff; vehicle is new and in excellent condition
Dislike: It would be much better for the contract printed in bilingual, i.e. French and English as we are unable to understand French. Confusion may offer due to communication problems.

Dislike: Just small problem with pick up as I didn’t receive my number problem with computer so I waited a long time before realising I needed a number.

It will be brilliant if you have the hours rate for the late drop off. 2 hours extra cost for me the same like a hole day.

Excellent service at the desk during pick up. Gave good tips for our trip.

Quick transfer to get the car and staff very pleasant - car was almost new!

The price online didn't match up with price we were charged for car hire. Don't like being ripped off.

Arrived earlier then booked pick up time , told me they didn’t have a car in My group (BS) ! Tried to up sell me Mercedes A class for extra 490 euro ! I went back at booked time to be given A damaged car, with filthy glass !! Never will I rent from euro car .

Déçu par la voiture réceptionné Attente terrible a la réception du véhicule environ 2 heures. Restitution très facile et rapide Personnel très agréable et professionnel.

Try to give me a smaller car than I booked and were only interested in selling me an upgrade. Took nearly an hour of arguing to get a car big enough. Terrible customer service

Service du personnel ne nous a pas prévenus de dommages sur la voiture. il ne nous a pas expliqué comment conduire la voiture (c'était une voiture hybride). La voiture n'était pas au bon endroit qu'on nous avait dit et il n'y avait personne à qui demander. Nous avons perdu trop de temps et nous avons été stressés. Je pense que quelqu'un aurait dû nous accompagner pour voir si tout allait bien pour la voiture.

Europcar option came out cheapest for renting Alfa Romeo Giulietta “or similar”. However 1. When went to pick the car our chosen car was not provided and was referred to the clause on advert which says "or similar". However the car provided (cannot remember its name but some sort of Opel) was/and is in no way similar to Alfa Romeo. Looked around at Europcar car park both when picking the car and when dropping it but could not see Alfa Romeo at all so I am sure they lied on advert about having Alfa Romeo in stock at all and were always going to rely on clause "or similar". Extremely dishonest 2. When I arrived at counter with my booking Europcar guy tried very hard to rent me an expensive luxury car instead. The price quoted was 8 times of what I had booked for. (Common sense that I would have booked an expensive car in the first place if I wanted). Pressure tactics like this are very stressful when you have come off a long flight with children early in the early morning. 3. When Europcar were unable to convince me with renting their expensive car, an expensive additional fully comprehensive insurance of nearly double that of the price of rent was charged). I had no option but to accept as excess premium was £1500 without this additional insurance. I had similar experience in the past when you pick the car they find faults with your online comprehensive insurance so I never get a fully comp insurance online and rely on buying it on the day. However the price charged by Europcar was 3 times of what was quoted in the online offer. 4. The car provided consumed much more fuel than a normal compact car and certainly more than Alfa Romeo. Although I had told Europcar beforehand that I will be going lots of miles. 5. As per the contract I was forced to use Fuel type E5 which is more expensive that Fuel type E10. Later on I found out that manufacturer recommends any of E5 or E10 fuels for that car. Again this was dishonest.

En résumé : Temps de vol Paris -Nice :1h15 , temps d’attente pour récupérer le véhicule 1h15 , jamais vu cela !

Nous avons attendu presque 2 heures pour récupérer notre véhicule, avec 2 enfants et étant prétendument en file "prioritaire". Aucune vérification du véhicule effectuée par EuropCar lors de sa récupération. On nous a proposé une upgrade vers un véhicule "offre spéciale super interessante": plus de 2 fois plus cher pour avoir un véhicule de catégorie supérieure: scandaleux !

We landed at NCE T1 and the pick-up was at T2. If I had known I would have possibly booked another rental to avoid the bus transfer (10mins) with my family and the large amount of luggage we had. Once at T2 there was no problems and the pick-up was smooth and easy. Staff were polite and efficient.

Surprisingly there was a long queue and the staff were doing their best but also were helping each other with issues so waiting times exceeded expectations. I assume though it was a one off thing. The car was parked horribly. There was no space to open the door not to mention the distance to the next parked car was maybe 20cm. I had to get in the car from the back seat and crawl to the driver seat ! I hope this won't happen again. I will yet try Europcar again.

Tried to charge me for previous damage

Very good experience being made easy by professional service from the reception desk.

I had to wait over an hour and a half to pick up my car on Friday 2 July at the Nice airport.

Was charged an extra 200 euros when I got home

The staff were very nice, the respected the voucher i had, the proccess were very smooth and the location easy to find.
