Ecovia is a rip-off rental company

Not located right inside the airport, but they offer shuttle service and the staff were really friendly. The car was a fairly new BYD Seal and it drove great.

Booked a Fiat 500 or similar. We got a Panda which was ready for the knackers yard. The accompanying document was highlighted with numerous bumps and scratches with a broken wheel trim. A yellow warning light came on soon after driving away and each time I turned right, the front left wheel screeched. It was a little unnerving when going up hairpin bends. At night the dipped lights were dim. The mileage was over 102,000 km when collected. When dropped off Pablo the Panting Panda, the rep didn’t really care after I told him about the faults. Cheap yes... Cheerful no...

Great service. Even reduced the price. Good comms. Just need to make sure I pick another hire car company.

You really need to make it clearer where the location is. I went to the main rental area which was wrong. I also found it very difficult to find the location upon returning. Finally, the car took CNG, and it was difficult to find a service station providing this. All of the above points could be easily provided on one piece of paper when collecting the car. Otherwise a good car, and clean. Nice customer service too.

When we got to the check in point they tried the hard sell of more insurance. We told them that we had already paid for the fully waiver insurance bring our excess down to £0. They kept stating this was not the case. I showed them my phone and they they changed their statement to well it it’s not through us so you need it again which is not the case. The first car we were shown was dirty and we were told to bring the car back clean. I asked why I had to clean a dirty car? The person that came out to inspect the car with me confirmed to the sales lady that it was dirty so there should be no charge. On entering the vehicle we noticed that they had issued us with a manual transmission. I went back to the desk and showed them their voucher which said Auto. They told me that this was just a car. Again I had to get the Easyrentcar email out to prove that we had ordered a Automatic. After we found this we got an Automatic. We feel like Ecovia tried everything to give us the cheapest car first for top money and didn’t want to give me the car that we had ordered. They charged the wrong credit card so we had to paid for 2 deposits (1 was returned the same day) otherwise we would have to pay a further €18 for their incompetence. The return was easy and the same guy came to inspect and we had no issues with him. Only the sales lady!! This whole experience of renting a car has put us off. We have rented many cars in the past and it has been very easy. To all be warned about Ecovia/ Autovia they will try and get all the money they can out of you and not provide you the car you paid for.
