The car was in excellent condition, with a total mileage of 30,000 KM. We drove around the North Island, and the vehicle performed stably and accelerated well on winding mountainous roads with a maximum speed limit of 100 KM on two-way lanes. It's important to slow down appropriately on curves and stay fully focused while driving. These past two days helped me get rid of bad driving habits I had in China. Traffic is very efficient here, with no ubiquitous traffic lights or cameras like back home—everything relies on rules and self-discipline.
Picking up the car just required filling out a form, and dropping it off was super quick—they just took a quick look and said everything was fine. Very efficient! The only downside was that the shuttle was a bit hard to find, but other than that, no complaints. The car was really fuel-efficient.
The service was quite good, and they even upgraded my car. The vehicle was easy to drive. The only downside was that the seatbelt had a strong mix of body odor and perfume. Everything else was great.
The staff was very enthusiastic, explaining all the details and precautions on the way to pick up the car, just like introducing their own child. The service was excellent!
If there are multiple drivers, an extra $8 per person per day is required. Also, parking needs to be prepaid; otherwise, fines can be significant. The vehicle was spacious and relatively new. We traveled from the North Island to the South Island for 11 days and used just over two tanks of fuel. CarPlay was very convenient, and there was no need for an additional phone holder. QEEQ and Europcar coordinated seamlessly, and pickup was quick. The only downside is that claims require upfront payment and reimbursement later, though luckily, there were no costs incurred this time.
I didn't realize we were supposed to pick up the car at the international terminal. Following the signs from the domestic terminal to the rental company, we were told that we needed to go to the international terminal. Fortunately, the staff helped us handle everything directly. However, the car we got was a Mitsubishi, not the Corolla we previously drove on the South Island. Also, this Mitsubishi is a petrol-only car and consumes a lot of fuel.
The company is quite professional. Picking up and returning the car didn’t take too long, and they provided the specified car model without any upselling.
The car pickup was very smooth. However, the car was a bit old, lacked cruise control, and the positions of the wiper and light controls were swapped, so it took some getting used to. The restrictions that changed midway were a bit too much, but luckily the ferry ticket remained unaffected.
