Car had not been checked before collection - on 2nd day of rental the engine warning light came on and on my inspection the engine coolant level was very low so had to purchase coolant to fill up the reservoir! Alamo staff knew nothing about the "$1" deposit scheme and it took a long time to convince them they should not take the full Alamo deposit! Car was OK but older than I would have expected and was quite tatty.

The service was great, but the car exchange point in downtown San Francisco was hard to find. However, it’s not easy to find anything in San Francisco because of the one-way streets and complex traffic rules. It took me 30 minutes to find a spot just 300 meters away. I recommend returning the car at the airport if possible.

The efficiency at the rental office is not great, and the paperwork takes a bit long. But once it's done, picking up the car is quick, with a dozen cars of the same class to choose from, all in good condition.

HAD TO WAIT FOR A VERY LONG TIME TO REACH TO THE COUNTER, i INITIALLY QUEUED UP FOR THE ON LINE KIOSK , AT SOME POINT ONE OF THE AGENT ASKED US TO JOIN THE OTHER QUE SINCE WE HAD BOOKED WITH IN 48 HRS, HAVING US TO FALL IN THE ALL OVER AGAIN AND DELAYING THE PROCESS EVEN MORE. HOW EVER ONCE WE REACHED THE DESK IT TOOK US 15 MIN OR LESS TO BE ON OUR WAY.
