New regulations in Phuket: White paper translations are not recognized. Due to the high number of tourist accidents, there are random checks on foreigners. If you only have a white paper translation and a domestic driver's license, but no international driver's license, you may be fined 3,000–5,000 baht. We only learned about this after arriving at Phuket Airport.

The overall service was quite good, but the Thai-accented English was a bit challenging.

Very satisfied, 5-star rating. Bought full insurance to avoid trouble. The guy just did a quick check when I returned the car and it was all okay. The car was in good condition, around 15,000 km. It was comfortable for the whole family, with enough power to climb hills without any trouble. No problem driving around the island!

I had to pay 300 THB upfront on early return fee

There were too many existing scratches that is impossible to go through during pickup process. The car need serious polishing which would buff out all the scratches to let the customer a fresh car to start with. Return was misleading where during pickup was told to return to where we pick up the car. But on the day of return, it's a different area.
