Poor service when things do not go to plan

About ACE: 6.0 /10
Ace is an American company which has no presence at Bordeaux airport. You pick up the cars from Goldcar and the queue for the desk is huge because it is not big enough for the amount of customers. I had terrible customer service between Ace and Goldcar when my daughter was taken into hospital and I could not return the car because their process and systems are not aligned. I would not recommend using them

Terrible service, car picked up at night, dirty, staff not even willing to show us where the car was ( used the key and light car to find it), won’t go back!

The only presence that ACE appears to have at the airport is a crudely desiged logo printed onto an A4 sheet of paper and sellotaped to the wall behind the Goldcar desk. It was almost impossible to find. Our booking voucher asked us to join the ‘Priority Lane’ but there was none. There were 79 customers waiting in a 3 hour queue ahead of us. There was nowhere to sit and we had to leave our children on the floor with our luggage. When we did finally pick up the car, the tank wasn’t completely full, despite being on a full to full contract, but by then we were beyond caring. We nearly missed the latest check in for accommodation because of the delays.

It was not clear Ace was part of Goldcar. Felt completely mislead, that we had booked a car for a certain price, but when we got there we had to either put down a deposit over €1000 on a credit card (that we couldn’t do) or pay insurance of over €120. We were told by the rude desk staff that it was in the small print and we should read them better. It was mis- selling and we will never use you again. I actually want compensation as I’m so angry and it ruined our trip.

“I would not use this company again”

Not use again simply because on picking car up, we were told that we were not covered for anything on car unless we paid €188 for their insurance. I had paid extra when booking the car for initially for coverage. They told me at counter it doesn’t count and we would be charged for anything wrong on return of car. We opted not to take it but puts an amount of anxiety on you during by whole holiday.

The collection desk was much improved from the previous occasions and there was not too much up selling and threatening by hard selling the extra insurance for damages. I have already bought my own annual insurance for this at a fraction of the price charged by Easy cars and others. The car was ready but a bit frustrated that I had to get marks added that were not shown - makes me suspicious. Also marks of the inside was 'not included' which didnt sound right . The gent at the handover was top class and very helpful - a credit.
