We did not get the car we paid for. I paid for a full size vehicle, Nissan Altima and was given a regular size Nissan Sentra. The choices we were given were all mid sized vehicles.

“Absolutely horrible experience”

At PHL: The service staff was great but the organization is absolutely horrible. People were in line for more than 30 minutes. The staff did everything they can but with completely outdated computer systems and archaic booking methods, it was not easy to respond to large crowds. At BOS: though the website said 24 hours open, there wasn't anyone when I dropped the car. No instructions, no guidance, no pointers. At least a courtesy note would have helped. I went all the way to Hertz service side to ask a random contractor if I can leave the car and keys and walk away. Absolutely horrible, especially for weary travelers.

Picking up the car was a pain. First, there was an issue with Dollar processing my credit card. Calls to my credit card company showed that there was no problem. I had to bail on the reservation desk and go to the Dollar Kiosk, which was able to process my credit card with no problem. The kiosk attempted to print my documents (contract, etc), but only blank pages emerged. I was told to proceed to the garage and just take "any car in area B". This process took at least 45 minutes. I went out to pick up my car from the garage. The Dollar representative said I was not supposed to take any car from area B, as I had been instructed by the Dollar representative. She sent me back to the counter, where I had to wait in line for the 3rd time to sort it all out. The representative at the counter printed out my contract and wrote the letter "B" on the front. I went back to the garage with this new document in-hand and was told to take any car from area B.... I found the process to be slow and frustrating. I pre-booked online, yet came across lots of confusion and delays when it came to pick-up. The Dollar employees were patient and accommodating, but the systems they were navigating to get me a car were obviously slowing them down.

“Dollar rental will never be getting my business again.”
About Dollar: 6.7 /10
Dollar rental car charges $10 a gallon for gas and neglected to inform me of this prior, plus never told me that the closest gas station to Tampa Intl airport is a 30minute round trip. Needless to say cost me almost as much to refill half a tank of gas as my whole rental car cost.

“Met / Exceeded Expectations”
About Dollar: 9.6 /10
Like: The car, a Ford Fusion Hybrid, was an excellent, well-designed and maintained piece of equipment. Great car. Rate did not match the reservation rate (it was higher, due to "taxes and fees", but was quickly corrected, once I showed the printout and e-mail, which did include taxes and fees.
Dislike: That the rate was higher than was what was contracted for. Fortunately, I had printouts and e-mails to prove it.
